Quick Tip: Organizing Alternatives When You Like to Pile Your Paperwork.

Quick Tip: Organizing Paper Piles - A Side of Fabulous blog

Take a look at your desk right now. Is it full of piles of paperwork? If so, today's tip is for you.

People often tell me they're "pilers." This is the common organizational system of piling things around.

Sometimes it's successful. Sometimes...not so much.

No matter what, you lose precious desk space.

Piling most often happens when you're very visual or an "out of sight, out of mind" type of person.

Unfortunately when you can see everything, you can easily end up seeing nothing.

Today I want to show you my two favorite tricks to help you organize the papers while maintaining your piles!

After all, the best organizing solutions are the ones that incorporate your natural habits - like piling!

 Hanging Clip Boards

To accomplish this, you'll need some wall space. From there, the solution is quick and easy.

  1. Make sure your piles are properly sorted and only one category per pile.
  2. Determine how many clipboards you need or are able to hang within the wall space.
  3. Acquire clipboards and hang them.
  4. Place each pile into a clipboard. Label if you'd like.

Magazine Files

If you don't have any wall space, this is the better option. Magazine files can reside on your desk or on shelves.

Pro-tip: if you have wall space but not enough for all of the clipboards you'd need, hang shelves and then use the magazine files.

  1. Make sure your piles are properly sorted and only one category per pile.
  2. Determine how many magazine files need and where you will put them.
  3. Acquire magazine files and place them in said location.
  4. Place each pile into a magazine file. Label if you'd like.

And voila! All of your piles are still intact while looking a little neater!

Are you a "piler?" If so, are your piles out in the open or did you create another system to contain them? Share with us in the comments below.
